Not everything comes down to cold hard numbers. Business may be balance sheets and inventory and assets, but it’s the relationships that make the difference. From nepotism to relationship networking, how we interact with other humans determines if we get the sale, promotion, or referral. Relationship building, over time, can help you in every aspect of your life.
How important are relationships in business?
I feel like this should be obvious. I’m not saying you need to be best friends with everyone you work with or want to work with. My point is that connecting and building relationships with people is one way to move toward your goals. How important are relationships in the work you do?
If you don’t know the answer yet, that’s ok. Especially if you are in the early stages of your journey, you may not know if they’ll make a difference. What I can tell you is that No matter what stage of business you’re in, building relationships is always a good idea. It doesn’t mean you will act on things right away, but, thinking long-term, the relationships you build now could save you later.
Where are you now with your relationship building skills?

- Who are the people you want to connect or reconnect with?
- How can you work it into your daily life to reach out?
- What are you comfortable with when it comes to a meeting? Video, phone call, etc
- Do you need help or tools to streamline that process?
